Wanna bet?

As I guess the cat is well and truly out of the bag now I can say that:

Jarred and I are going to Vegas :D.

Jarred and I won the top prize in the Devsta Challenge 2008 competition with Turbulence: A GPS Tag Game. We didn’t just win first prize but also best mobile application as well.

Congratulations should go to everyone who entered. Everyone who was bold enough to put their stuff out there and show Australia what they’ve got deserves a serious pat on the back. Well done all.

It’s weird but I don’t think it’s really sunk in yet that we’re going to MIX09 in Vegas. We had a phone call from the judges yesterday and so we shuffled into the back room at work to hear what they had to say. Apparently our response was pretty loud because when we came out there were people standing and applauding. I was kind of stunned so I think the only thing I said included bad language. Whoops!

I’d love to get my hands on all of the other prize winning entries and have a play. These include

A few others that I wouldn’t mind seeing in action are:

  • Pimp My Guide – I don’t get to watch much television anymore but this still looks cool.
  • All Things Food – Like the TV I tend to stay out of the kitchen. That’s because I think I’ve poisoned my family the few times I’ve cooked :). This still sounds like a great idea though.
  • Overt – Tetris + Bejewelled? No idea what to expect from this but it looks like freakishly frantic fun.

In the coming months we’d really like to field test Turbulence so let us know if you are interested in participating in a game. All you need is a Windows Mobile 5 device with GPS capability and a data connection. Oh and you also need to be in Perth unless we get enough interest in other cities.

Going to Vegas! Woo!

Guys, that's brilliant! Bloody marvellous.

Well deserved. Now if we could just create mobile device app. that makes the slot machines pay out...

@jordanbrock - I'll try. I might need a shipping container with all the "bring us back a dodgy girl requests". Of course then I'd be importing them and I'd have to deal with the government :(

@oidatsmyleg - You are making a pretty big assumption that we are doing work now that will need to be picked up!

@dave gardner - Actually my alpha-wife is coming with us so she can help pick out a Vegas-wife. Do you have a trundle-bed I can borrow (for me)

@michael kordahi - Cheers mate. You do realize that every time I see you I'm going to point and shout "O MY GOD YOU'RE ETHAN HAWKE" at the top of my lungs right?

Hey mate, congrats. It was tight but your win was very well deserved!

I'll regale you with tales of how you almost didn't win when we hang out at MIX09 :-)

Woo Hoo! I know how much work you guys put into this so it's definitely well deserved.

Have you got any plans yet for where your Vegas wife is going to live when you return?

Well done. Having a good idea is hard, seeing it through is harder. Now just who is going to pick up your work whilst you slackers are in Vegas? :-p

Oh man, that is fantastic. Congratulations! Excellent gear.

Bring back some dead hookers :)
