The chain of giving starts with Microsoft

I was very interested to see this article today over at Coding Horror. As Jeff Atwood has decided to start advertising on his blog he is going to donate money to Open Source projects. Not only that but Microsoft has agreed to match his personal $5,000 making a $10,000 total. This might not seem like a lot but it is more than what the Open Source Community was getting this morning and that is Good Thing(TM).

My money is definitely with the Castle Project getting some cash even despite recent setbacks they have had with Microsoft. It will be interesting to see Microsoft happily back Open Source Projects which are direct competitors for their products. MbUnit/NUnit vs. Team Foundation, NAnt vs. MsBuild, etc.

Go and leave a comment on the Coding Horror post to have your say on who gets the cash and help support your favorite Open Source project.
