Mind-expanding boredom-busters

I have lost this link a few times because I never remember which site it is on or what the title is so I'll leave it here:

Award Annals - Honor roll: Scince Fiction Authors

It is a list of 268 (currently) science fiction authors who have received awards at some stage (ranked by awardedness). There is also a corresponding Fantasy Honor roll:

Award Annals - Honor roll: Fantasy Authors

I figure that between the two I should always have something good to read. Currently I'm reading "Memoirs found in a Bathtub" which is about as weird as it sounds. It's the current Sword & Laser book club pick.

Whilst I'm posting crazy things I should read I'll add in some of the Wikipedia Topic links.

You may never claim to be bored in my presence now :)

Ha. As I emerge from the flu I've had for the last few days I see Look to Windward is by Ian M. Banks ... might pay me to read the cover sometimes. rolls eyes at himself

Mind you I did find the Destiny's Children series and Times Odyssey pretty good. :)

You reckon? The lask MacLeod book I read was Learning the World ... my God it was like pounding a roofing nail into my head getting to the end of that book... chapters and chapters about two apparently gay bat people watching the aliens arrive while the on-ship stuff was about a bunch of annoying future bloggers.

Leaving that to read Look to Windward was quite a contrast. I still have 1.5 chapters to do in that but it's pretty enthralling so far.

Baxter has the science down but I'm not convinced he can tell a good story. Most of his work that I've read has a killer opening and a lackluster finale. It's like a science paper with some very flat people walking around in it. That's been my experience anyway.

I can't believe Ken MacLeod rated that much higher than Stephen Baxter!
